Municipal services bolstered for Primavera Sound

01/06/2023 - 15:16 h

Safety and prevention. Traffic diversions will be in place, with public transport operating more frequently and for longer hours.

The festival opened yesterday and ends on Sunday. Held in the Parc del Fòrum, the days of 1, 2 and 3 June will be the busiest, with around 80,000 people expected to attend each day.

In the days leading up to the festival, the City Police conducted a campaign aimed at premises open to the public and at local shops, explaining the regulations on the sale and consumption of alcohol.

A specific service has also been activated for the prevention and control of unauthorised sales of alcohol and prohibited substances, particularly in residential areas near the site, with more thorough checks in Rambla de Prim.

There will also be an operation with 17 civic officers (information and mediation in the streets) around the Parc del Fòrum, facilitating mobility and detecting potential uncivil behaviour or establishments opening outside permitted hours.

A purple point is in operation on the site itself, for prevention and support relating to sexist violence and LGBTI-phobia. If necessary, staff will activate the security protocol against sexual violence in leisure environments.

Traffic diversions

A security perimeter has been established, delimited by the following streets:

Av. Litoral, from the boundary with Sant Adrià de Besòs (included), Josep Pla (not included), Av. Diagonal, side nearest the mountain (included), Rbla. Prim, both sides (included), Llull (not included), Pl. Llevant (included), Eduard Maristany, both sides (included), Sant Ramon de Penyafort (not include), Rda. Litoral, side lane nearest the mountain (not included), Pg. Garcia Fària (not included) and Josep Pla (not included).

From 5 pm until the return of normal volumes each day, the security perimeter will be closed in Rambla de Prim, between Llull and Pl. Llevant. The rest of the perimeter will be closed at 9 pm.

Within the perimeter, only service vehicles, public transport and occupied and accredited taxis will be able to circulate, along with residual traffic from vehicles which were parked or which belong to local residents.

In terms of mobility, parking will not be allowed (including motorcycles on pavements) from 8 am on Wednesday to 8 am on Sunday, in Av. Litoral, between Josep Pla and Neus Bouzá (side nearest the sea).

Those wishing to get to the Diagonal Mar shopping centre or hotels near the Fòrum in vehicles can do so by following the indications and the available access points.

Public transport

The festival organisers have planned two shuttle bus stops:

  • In Passeig del Taulat (side nearest the mountain), between Plaça de Llevant and Josep Pla, connecting the festival exit with Plaça de Catalunya:
      • Thursday and Friday night, from 2 am to 5 am
      • Saturday night, from 3 am to 7 am
  • In Av. Litoral (side nearest the mountain), from the green point exit as far as Josep Pla, also connecting the festival with Plaça de Catalunya. The service will be available on the nights of Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from midnight to 4 am.

Buses and metro services serving the festival will also run more frequently (continuous metro service through the night on Saturday), with the tram service also operating longer hours. The metro will run through until 5 am on the nights of Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and until 1 am on Sunday night.

Taxi ranks will be operating at C/ Josep Pla, 22, and at the junction between Pg. Garcia Fària and Jospe Pla.

The organisers have also planned two bicycle parking areas: in Pl. Leonardo da Vinci (600 bikes) and in Pl. Willy Brandt (700 bikes).
