The 29th Barcelona Road Safety Forum is being held at the CaixaForum Macaya on 30 November under the title “Reckless driving: the influence of alcohol and drugs”.
The consumption of alcohol and drugs is one of the most common factors in reckless driving and poses the greatest risk for drivers and pedestrians alike.
The 29th Barcelona Road Safety Forum will share different types of emphasis, from police and legal perspectives to social, institutional and health ones, in a challenge which needs joint responsibility from users and administrations. The full programme for the forum is available on the website.
It’s worth noting that alcohol was once again the main indirect cause of road accidents in Barcelona in 2022: it played a part in 225 accidents, with 14,307 drivers or riders found to be circulating under the effects of alcohol of drugs, an average of 39 a day. The number of criminal cases brough by the City Police for reckless driving was 50.
