The streets of Barcelona welcome the Christmas celebrations! Everything starts on 28 November at 6 pm, with a big show in Passeig de Gràcia between Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Ronda Sant Pere: the eagerly awaited switching on of the Christmas lights. Here you can check all the disruptions to traffic.
The traditional ceremony sees the first Christmas lights in Barcelona get switched on, with the rest of the lights around the city to follow straight after, featuring very different compositions and designs. This year’s ceremony is in Passeig de Gràcia on 28 November, at 6 pm, between Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Ronda Sant Pere.
Created especially for the occasion, the production Solvern is directed by Sigrun Fritsch and is a collaborative project between German and Catalan artists, with the urban dance company Iron Skulls and the scenographer Llorenç Corbella. The show combines urban dance, rap and visual effects, symbolising hope and cohesion through an immersive experience where 28 performers move between five stages in Passeig de Gràcia, with projections and fireworks.
