The City Police and the Mossos d’Esquara police corps today started using their new Citizen Help and Information Office (OAC) to register reported incidents, located at C/ Pau Claris, 158, in the district of L’Eixample. The premises substitute the former OAC at C/ Aragó, 332, which closed to the public on 17 April.
The new OAC, also located in the centre of Barcelona, continues to respond to security and safety needs in the heart of the city, with both police corps indistinctly providing support for members of the public.
The OAC offers a permanent service throughout the year, attending to members of the public Monday to Friday from 7 am to 10 pm, and at weekends from 9 am to 9 pm. The office has four direct support points, exclusively for reporting incidents.
The office also has a translation service, from 10 am to 6 pm, and doesn’t rule out extending these hours in the summer.
The OAC complements the offices for reporting incidents located in police stations of the respective corps in the district of L’Eixample. This way, and like any other office of this type, members of the public can complete the procedures they need to with an appointment.
In keeping with the move to offer more streamlined service and cut waiting times, certain criminal offences will be able to be reported using leaflet report forms.
Since the OAC in C/ Aragó opened in April 2021, officers from the two corps have handled over 15,000 reported incidents, mainly relating to pickpocketing and theft, and drafted over 7,000 procedures, such as authorisations for minors to travel abroad or procedures for lost items.
