Children can get a good insight into the everyday work of the City Police and the Barcelona Fire Service to keep the city safe, as well as the chance to explore their vehicles and enjoy exhibitions and workshops.
The two corps will be at the Montjuïc trade fair site from 27 to 31 December (next to Plaça Espanya), in hall two and Plaça Univers, at the following times:
- Mornings: from 10 am to 3 pm.
- Afternoons: from 4 pm to 9 pm (except the afternoon of 31 December).
Activities by the Barcelona Fire Service
The Barcelona Fire Service will have its educational PREvenim! vehicle in Plaça Univers, equipped with real intervention tools, small fire extinction practice materials and and audiovisual equipment for educational activities.
The goal is to offer children an educational explanation of how to act in an emergency, with practical tips on what to do when a fire occurs.
Children will also be able to explore a fire engine and get a first-hand look at how it works, as well as try on firefighting uniforms.
They can also engage in crafts at the stand, such as colouring in and assembling a small cardboard truck.
City Police activities
The Barcelona City Police will be in Plaça Univers too. Children can explore a police vehicle for the investigation of road accidents and even speak on the radio used by officers.
The Mounted Unit will be taking part on each day of the festival from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm, with a workshop where officers will explain their daily work with this unit, as well as what looking after the animals entails. Finally, children will also be able to stroke and brush the horses.
The Emergency Reinforcement and Proximity Group (UREP) will also be giving an animal well-being display with the Dog Section on 27 and 30 December at 11.30 am.
At the indoor stand, children will also have access to a space for various craft activities, as well as the chance to go on a police motorcycle and quad.
The Children’s Festival offers a chance to enjoy leisure activities, creative, cultural and solidarity activities for youngsters up to the age of 12, in an area of 20,000 square metres. Tickets can be purchased directly at the gate or on the website.
