New management information system for the Barcelona Pet Shelter (CAACB)
Reference framework
The Barcelona Pet Shelter (CAACB) is the leading authority working for the welfare of two thousand pets, namely cats, dogs and ferrets, found lost or abandoned outdoors every year. The shelter cares for them until they are reunited with their families or adopted.
The construction of the new CAACB, which is set to increase the capacity of the centre, means a new information system is needed to improve technological support for the running of the shelter.
Description
The new information system is essential for getting the new pet shelter up and running, where a greater capacity and higher volume of activity is expected, requiring all management processes to be improved. The goal of the new application is to improve technological support for CAACB processes.
With this new information system the initial aim is to support the administration of the centre by monitoring how the animals get along with their adoptive families and the behaviour of animals, collating the animals' veterinary check-up records, the provision of established diets, managing the register of volunteers who take the animals out for walks and support their socialisation and lastly, and most importantly, providing a shared space for the coordination and monitoring of the centre, supporting its data gathering and performance indicators.
