Eat Books

Eat Books is a recreational-educational project that seeks to promote and encourage a love of reading and improve oral language and the language of instruction in children in the early stages of learning, in order to enhance their educational, emotional, and social development.

Through a series of fun activities related to reading, language, and oral expression, which are organised in schools by two organisations with a technical and monitoring team, children are invited to explore the many possibilities offered by reading and to generate meaningful and emotionally stimulating experiences.

The project also has the support of other spaces in the area that add value to the project and promote awareness of the facilities and community services in the neighbourhood, with a special focus on libraries.

The programme's objectives are to enhance the development of reading skills and, in particular, a love of reading in children in the 2nd and 3rd years of primary school, by promoting planned and attractive activities that generate interest in reading. It also aims to encourage the active involvement of families as essential educational agents, in the knowledge that family participation is key to improving children's reading habits and skills.

The programme also works to promote equal opportunities and equity, based on joint work between the community, the region, families, and schools, so that all children, regardless of their background, can access an enriching reading experience. Finally, the aim is to promote libraries as attractive spaces for reading and leisure, taking advantage of their renovations and innovative projects to make them accessible, inclusive and stimulating for children.

Time impacts:

  • Promotion of healthy use of time.
  • Promotion of social and cultural participation.
