The first Summer School on time policies has arrived
» The School is the first European training program that promotes the right to time and time poverty
» There will be online sessions addressed to citizens and organizations and an on-site event in Barcelona for political, technical and expert staff
From the 10th to 14th of June, Barcelona City Council is organizing together with the Time Use Initiative the first European training program on time policies; the Summer School on Time Policies. This program, which is part of the Time4All project, aims to approach time policies from a framework of expertise that facilitates and equips key agents in time policies to move towards a healthier, more equal, efficient and sustainable organization of time.
The program from June 10 to 12 through the online Summer School, will address citizens and interested organizations, while on June 13 and 14 the face-to-face Summer School, will target experts, technicians and elected officials of local bodies. This format is designed to provide a better response to the specific needs of each group, as well as to offer specialized training.
On the one hand, the online sessions that coordinate the Time Use Initiative aim to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of time policies. The different sessions will set the focus on the impact that time poverty has on the day-to-day life and well-being of citizens, offer theoretical seminars on key topics such as health, digital disconnection and work, as well as provide the audience with tools and knowledge through a participatory methodology that allows the creation of synergies.
On the other hand, the face-to-face format organized by Barcelona City Council, which will take place on June 13 and 14 at the Picasso Museum, establishes as its target audience public personnel, elected officials as well as experts.
This face-to-face School aims to become a platform for the exchange of knowledge, the development of capacities and the creation of networks around the implementation of effective time policies. This is why, from an approach that aims to be particularly pragmatic and useful for the participants, different round tables will be held with experts who will have an impact on topics such as the labour market and the right to time, global experiences in public policies of time or the quantitative approach from an urban planning, poverty and mobility perspective. Also, in the sessions, different participative workshops will be held aimed at the integration of knowledge such as “Tools for the self-evaluation of time policies in your local entity” and “What is meant by a city of proximity”.
This Summer School aims to improve the understanding of the impact of time policies to respond to social challenges and promote social well-being, train participants in the design and implementation of more effective and efficient time policies as well as generate synergies to strengthen local and international networks and alliances.
All in all, if you work in the field of time policies, or if you want to promote time policies in your organization and you are interested in learning more about this topic, sign up for the first Summer School on time policies and keep moving forward with us to promote a healthier, more equal, efficient and sustainable organization of time!
