2009. New management
A Mayoral decree approved the setting-up of the Municipal Archives System Executive Management and provided for the presence of archivists in the central areas and districts. The same decree created the Barcelona Photographic Archives (AFB).
2010. Regulations
The Full City Council approved the Regulations for the Municipal Archives System. These regulate the functions of the centres and bodies that are part of it.
Consolidation
This model has gradually evolved over the past few years and the Barcelona Municipal Archives are being modernised by their archive master plans to ensure document conservation and management, guarantee the rights of citizens, support the municipal government and contribute to the city’s memory.
