Classification schemes
The Uniform Classification Scheme (QdC in Catalan) is the framework which structures the activities and transactions carried out by the different organs and people that make up the municipal Administration in a functional, logical and hierarchycal manner. It is applied to the contemporary municipal fond of Barcelona City Council, and it allows to identify and retrieve its documents.
This Uniform Classification Scheme organises the documents generated by Barcelona City Council since the first third of the 19th century.
Other classification schemes that should be mentioned are the Schemes for the fonds of towns and villages added to the Barcelona municipality and the Schemes for medieval and modern municipal fonds.
