Efficacy, publicity and administrative transparency
In order to comply with these principles, Barcelona City Council has introduced a document management system called AIDA (Integrated Document and Archives Administration). This system applies to documents in any format, from when they are created in municipal offices to when they can be destroyed or have to be preserved for their historical value.
It also includes a document management policy that decides the principles which all municipal government documents need to follow, in line with the current legislation in force.
This system uses various tools, procedures and standards to ensure proper document management.
