The most notable measure entails enlarging the underpass beneath the Adif train tracks where Carrer Oristà intersects with Carrer Torre Vella, in the neighbourhood of Vallbona. The work will cost 2.42 million euros, representing more than 40% of the overall value of the three projects.
The subway will act as a new connection between the south-west and the north-east of Vallbona, solely for pedestrian use until approval is given to amend the urban plan for the area.
With the temporary urban work, pedestrians will be able to use the new underpass and vehicles and bikes will continue to use the existing one. The work will take into account the differences in height between the two sides, and create green spaces in the surroundings to reduce the visual impact.
When the urban revamp is definitive, vehicles and bikes will use the new underpass, with the existing one to be used by pedestrians.
