Disruptions to mobility in La Rambla owing to work on the water supply

22/08/2025 - 10:26 h

Aigües de Barcelona will be carrying out various tasks in La Rambla from Monday 25 to Friday 29 August, adding a back-up pipe to the water supply network. The work means that traffic circulation in La Rambla heading in the direction of the mountains will be cut between C/ Hospital and C/ Portaferrissa, with the TMB 59 service also to be diverted.

The traffic restriction in La Rambla, between C/ Hospital and C/ Ponteferrissa, will apply from first thing in the morning on Monday, 25 August, to the evening of Friday, 29 August. People are advised to avoid circulating in La Rambla from Monday to Friday, although if this is unavoidable, an alternative route has been planned using the streets of Hospital, Maria Aurèlia Capmany and Carme, from where users can rejoin La Rambla. Those using the car park at La Rambla, 88, will also be able to access it without any problems.

Diversion of the 59 bus service

The work by Aigües de Barcelona will also affect TMB’s 59 bus service, meaning it will not be able to circulate along the three stops in La Rambla, which will be out of service. Travelling in the direction of the mountains, the bus will be diverted along Pg. Colom, Av. Paral·lel, Rda. Sant Pau, C/ Floridablanca, Rda. Sant Antoni and Rda. Universitat and C/ Pelai as far as Pl. Catalunya, where it resumes its usual route. Travelling in the direction of the sea, the 59 bus already uses a diversion along Via Laietana, which started when the work on La Rambla began.

Aigües de Barcelona will put a team of people on the street from 25 to 29 August to regulate traffic and provide support for vehicles circulating in La Rambla. A team of municipal information staff will also be operating in the area where work is being carried out, resolving doubts and queries from shopkeepers, drivers and bus passengers.
