Disruptions to services on Ferrocarril lines between Gràcia and Sarrià due to track renewal work
10/08/2023 - 09:00 h
Work on track renewal between the Muntaner and Les Tres Torres stations, on the Barcelona-Vallès line will cause disruption to services from 12 to 20 August. There will also be disruption on Via Augusta.
From 12 to 20 August services on the Barcelona-Vallès Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) line will be affected by track renewal work between the stations of Muntaner and Les Tres Torres. Ferrocarrils has scheduled these works during the season of low demand on metropolitan lines in order to minimise impact on users.
During the main phase of the works, trains will not be able to run on the section between the stations of Sarrià and Gràcia, which will be served by a replacement bus service. The scheduled service between 12 and 20 August will be as follows:
- Replacement bus service between Gràcia and Sarrià via Via Augusta.
- There will be no changes to train timetables for services on lines S1 and S2 operating between the stations of Sarrià and Terrassa Nacions Unides and Sabadell Parc del Nord.
- There will changes to the usual timetables for trains running between Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya. Maximum frequency will be eighteen trains an hour in each direction. Timetables will be available on the fgc.cat website, via the FGC app, and will be on display at stations.
- Trains on L7 and L12 will follow their usual timetables.
Working to improve the service
With these works, 640 metres of new concrete slab track will replace the existing ballasted track. The aim is to improve the service and to reduce maintenance costs.
The works form part of the project to renew the track between Plaça Catalunya and Sarrià. Part of these works have already been completed (between the Les Tres Torres and Sarrià stations, and they will include all sections of the tunnel, as these stations already have concrete slab track.
Work on the pavements and one of the traffic lanes in Via Augusta
From this week onwards, and for a period of two months, preliminary works will affect the pavements at some points on Via Augusta. However, pedestrian access to the street and the pedestrian crossing will be maintained. One of the pavements on C. Rosari will also be closed.
From 8 to 27 August, the works will involve the closure of one lane of traffic on Via Augusta, on the stretch between the Vallmajor and Santaló streets, where the bicycle lane will also be closed in both directions. The bus stop located on this stretch of road will be moved to C. Calvet. Moreover, access to the side lane on Ronda del General Mitre will be cut at C. Lázaro Cárdenas, and it will be open for local residents and service vehicles only.
