The Barcelona Llibres Joint Publishing Awards are run by Barcelona City Council’s Directorate for Publishing Services with the goal of recognising the best unpublished works about Barcelona or its people submitted by a publishing company interested in jointly publishing the book with Barcelona City Council. These joint publishing projects must be suitable for some of the collections listed in Section Three of these terms and conditions.

All joint publishing projects on the theme of Barcelona and its people, within the framework of the twelve collections approved by Barcelona City Council’s Editions and Publications Board on 29 March 2023, are eligible for this award.

If a submitted project is considered to be of interest for the city of Barcelona, but does not meet the criteria for any of the collections, it may only be accepted it the panel can provide a reasoned justification for making an exception.

The works in question may be unfinished. However, the projects submitted must be duly detailed and explained. For finished works, a sample chapter will be taken into consideration.

Participation is open to any legal person whose corporate purpose involves book publishing and who meets the requirements and goals of the initiative

The call for applications is open to:

- Private publishing houses.

- University publishers.

- Organisations whose corporate purpose involves publishing and distributing books.

There is no restriction on where they are based.

The submission period for joint publishing projects opens on 2 September 2025. Entries may be submitted within a period of 15 working days from the first day of the submission period.

Applicants must fill in the corresponding form (which must be signed electronically by their legal representative using the mechanisms established in Barcelona City Council’s Signature Policy), and attach the required documentation.
