More Sustainable Schools (Escoles + Sostenibles) is a programme which more than 50% of Barcelona schools at all levels (infant, from 0 to 6, primary, secondary, post-compulsory studies, vocational training cycles, adult education, special education and adapted curriculums) take part in. Through this competition, the programme recognises education projects which respond to the following goals:

• To strengthen sustainability education through firm support for education communities seeking to introduce social and environmental improvements in their schools.
• To improve the immediate environment and the city as far as possible.
• To consolidate environmental practices carried out at schools.

Further important information: 

• Each school can enter one project only.
• The awards are divided into two sections: initiatives that last for one school year (annual projects) or three school years (triennial projects).
• Centres currently in the first or second year of a triennial project may not present any project.
• In the annual project section, no prizes can be awarded to centres that have won within the last two campaigns, but they may receive a second prize or honourable mention.
• No more than one award that includes a cash prize may be granted to the same project or beneficiary.
