“Sant Andreu contemporani” is a public programme dedicated to the promotion, dissemination and production of emerging contemporary art, organised by Barcelona City Council - Sant Andreu District. The programme consists of exhibitions, workshops, conferences, curating projects, an educational programme, a mediation programme, and a programme of artist residencies. All of this aims to provide creative people with the tools they need for their professional development.
Each year, Sant Andreu Contemporani organises the Miquel Casablancas Award Visual Arts Competition, inviting submissions from young artists throughout the country, divided into four categories:
- Works
- Project
- Mediation
- Graphic communication
Any creative people who are residents in Spain and who were born after 1 January 1987 qualify as individuals for the competition, along with national or foreign artistic groups. In the case of artistic groups, at least half of the members must meet the individual requirements stated above. Only one project or piece of work per artist is permitted in each category. Should a single entry be submitted under more than one category, it will only be eligible for one of the prizes. Winning entries from previous editions cannot be submitted in the same category for which they won the prize.
The period for submitting applications is from 1 February to 15 March 2023 (including both dates).
The proposals must be presented exclusively online. You will find more information on the website, where you can also download the standard application forms.
