Barcelona City Council

The purpose of this call is to award grants to carry out research and innovation projects – promoted by Barcelona City Council in collaboration with the ”la Caixa” Foundation – by means of a competitive process.

The purpose of this call is to support scientific research in the city, as well as to:

• Contribute to generating ideas, innovative responses and scientific evidence on the city's urban challenges. 
• Increase collaboration between research centres and social and economic organisations in the city of Barcelona.
• Encourage open access and dissemination of research results to contribute to the transfer of knowledge, with a desire for public visibility and social return.

The projects must be based on research into challenges that fall within one of the following three fields:

• A. Life and health sciences
• B. Technological innovation and city
• C. Sustainability and climate change

The procedure for awarding subsidy will be a competitive public process. Under the conditions established for the 2023 call, only projects proposed by a group of legal persons can be presented. 

Applications must be submitted electronically through the form available on Barcelona City Council’s e-office.

The deadline for submitting the application form and corresponding documents is 40 calendar days starting the day after the call is published in the BOPB (Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona).
