The grant scheme has three main goals: 

- To provide financial support for ordinary overheads involved in running facilities. 

- To promote other actions and measures to revitalise the retail sector, helping to consolidate markets as a social driver for neighbourhoods through retail and economic activity. 

- To support new home delivery services (category reserved solely for markets that are launching a home delivery service this financial year with a job placement company or a socially driven special work centre, in accordance with Act 44/2007 and Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013). 

The application and overheads submission forms can be downloaded from the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Markets website http://www.mercatsbcn.cat/.

Applications must be submitted to the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Markets electronically via the Barcelona City Council e-headquarters. Applicants can start the process by clicking “generic application (start the online procedure)“. Note that an electronic certificate is required.

The application period will be open for twenty working days from the day after the publication of the call for applications in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona. Applications submitted outside this period will be rejected.

Should any challenges be lodged during the public-scrutiny period for these terms and conditions, the twenty-day period will start from the publication of the final approval in the same publication.
