Barcelona City Council is promoting these subsidies to make commercial establishments more attractive from the outside, in turn making for more pleasant shopping streets. This is to be achieved by changing full frontal shutters for slatted ones or other similar types which enable passers-by to see inside the establishments and see their window displays even when they are closed.

This will make window displays and the products on sale on the premises visible outside opening hours. These 24-hour shop windows will promote commercial activity, prevent unwanted graffiti (these types of shutters make graffiti difficult) and at the same time give visibility to all commercial premises outside opening times, consequently adding more vitality to shopping streets.

Subsidies can cover costs relating to the supply, transport and installation of shutters, according to the requisites of the call.

The financial outlay or maintenance costs for which the subsidy is requested must correspond to investments made between 1 January and 31 December 2022 (inclusive).

The following must be submitted along with the application documents:

• Invoice(s) if the expenditure was already made within the call’s period of eligibility.

• Budget(s) for the envisaged expenditure for change of shutter at the commercial establishment whose subsidy is being applied for (the budget must include all the data that are stated in a commercial invoice) if the expenditure has not yet been made; as well as photo(s) of the shutter where the shop’s sign is displayed and, if possible, the street number.

The application period is open from 17 May to 30 September 2022 (inclusive). Any applications made outside this period will not be accepted. Subsidy applications must be submitted online, using Barcelona City Council’s Procedures Website.

Extended term until October 31, 2022, inclusive

Presentation of justification of the subsidised activity: deadline 31 March 2023.
