The measures include the renewal and improvement of various elements, paving and surfaces, improvements to pavements and the exchange and repair of urban furniture, signage and different road structures. In all, 3.5 million euros will be invested in works under the comprehensive maintenance plan, part of the Pla Endreça in these neighbourhoods, which have a diverse range of uses and volumes of people in the summer months and will be hosting the events in the 37th edition of the America’s Cup.
Road surfaces
Resurfacing has now been completed in Avinguda del Marquès de l’Argentera and Carrer dels Pescadors.
Disruptions in Passeig de Colom
Monday brings the start of resurfacing in Passeig de Colom, in the section between Portal de la Pau and Carrer de les Fusteries, with the central section exclusively for public transport and taxis will be renewed. The work will be carried out from 13 to 17 May and means that the bus services that use this section will be diverted. The central section will be completely closed, with six bus-stops in each direction out of operation. Specifically, these are the stops at Portal de la Pau, Moll de la Fusta and Pg. Colo -Via Laietana (252, 253, 254,255, 256 and 257). Provisional stops will be set up in front of the numbers 21 and 10 in the direction of the Llobregat, and in front of the Captaincy General in the direction of the Besòs.
Disruptions in Plaça de les Drassanes and Passeig de Josep Carner
Resurfacing work will be carried out in Plaça Drassanes and Passeig Josep Carner, in the section between Les Drassanes and Portal de la Pau, from Saturday 18 to Monday 20 May. On 19 and 20, this will affect traffic travelling between Plaça Drassanes and Portal de la Pau, with exit 21 of the B-10 in the direction of the Llobregat closed to traffic.
On Sunday 19, the outer part of Plaça Drassanes and half the side lane in Passeig Josep Carner nearest the mountain will be closed, leaving two lanes operational in the direction of the Llobregat. Work will then move on to the inner part of Plaça Drassanes and the other half of the same side lane in Passeig Josep Carner, leaving just two lanes operational in the direction of the Llobregat. Vehicles will be able to divert along Passeig de Josep Carner (in the direction of the Besòs), Portal de la Pau, then back onto Josep Carner (in the direction of the Llobregat) and Av. Paral·lel.
The work will also leave the Les Drassanes bus stop out of operation (lines D20 and H14) in the direction of the Llobregat, with the bike lane here also closed. During the night of Sunday 19, the road surface nearest the sea in Plaça Drassanes and the side lane nearest the sea in Passeig Josep Carner will be occupied. During this stage, traffic diversions will use the mountain side of Plaça Drassanes, with just one lane operating in each direction in the side lane nearest the mountain.
The work will also mean that Av. Paral·lel is closed in the ascending direction from the Besòs, with traffic having to divert along Passeig Josep Carner (in the direction of the Besòs), Portal de la Pau and back into Josep Carner (in the direction of the Llobregat) and Av. Paral·lel. Vehicles will not be able to access Passeig Josep Carner in the direction of the Besòs from Av Paral·lel.
Disruptions around Pla de Palau
Resurfacing work will be carried out in Pla de Palau from 21 to 23 May. On Tuesday 21, the lane around the whole square on the side nearest the mountains in Pla de Palau will be completely closed. This will affect the TEISA bus station in front of the Llotja de Barcelona, which will be relocated.
On Wednesday 22, the inner lanes of Pla de Palau will be closed, with the lane that passes in front of the Nautical faculty complete out of operation. One lane in each direction in the square (ascending and descending) will remain operational, along with a bus lane.
On Thursday, 23 May, just one lane in each direction (ascending and descending) will be operating in the inner part of the square. Regarding disruptions to public transport, bus stop 3470 (V13 service) will be out of operation, with the existing shelter here to be moved along with bus stop 1476 (59 and D20 services) and relocated in Passeig Isabel II, just before the junction with Plaça Pau Vila. The stop for the V19 service will be moved to bus stop 3396.
In June, after Sant Joan and when the school year has ended, resurfacing will be carried out in Passeig Marítim and the Barceloneta neighbourhood. Other work in June includes repairs to the road surfaces in Plaça Pau Vila, in Av. Litoral, Carrer Doctor Aiguader and Carrer Marina, below Plaça dels Voluntaris, as well as in other areas.
Repair and renewal of pavements, furniture and infrastructures
The repair and renewal of pavements will also be one of the most significant measures in the city’s coastal neighbourhoods. The first will be in Passeig Marítim, with pavements also to be repaired in the main streets in the neighbourhoods of Barceloneta, Gòtic, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera and Vila Olímpica
This package of work also includes the renewal and repair of furniture and different urban elements such as handrails, balustrades, stairs, signage and other features in public streets and squares.
These actions are just some of nearly 3,000 planned in the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan (PMI) from 2024 to 2028, part of the broader Pla Endreça.
