Pets can live for a very long time. We are talking about 10 to 15 years, sometimes more. This is why you should never buy a pet on impulse but should instead think carefully about the responsibility involved in having an animal at home in an urban setting. In addition, you should seek advice regarding which animal or species is best suited to your lifestyle.
If you want to go ahead with the purchase, remember that you can also choose to adopt a pet from a municipal or animal protection association shelter.
If you would rather buy your pet in a shop, you should make sure that:
- it is registered with the Register of Animal Sites and has its own or external veterinary service;
- cats and dogs are identified at least by means of an approved microchip implant;
- animals are delivered deloused and dewormed and without any apparent symptoms of disease;
- you are given a document with information about the animal and an invoice with the price and the seller’s details. The purchase will be covered by a two-year warranty.
