Dialogue "Balancing work and family life: Cost or investment?" under the 5th Week of Social Responsibility in Catalonia
The debate moderated by the researcher in conciliation Marc Grau (IESE), met managers and workers from Softmachine representing the NUST Network, and Can Cet representing the Barcelona Social Economy Network. This event was also part of the 20th Anniversary of the International Family Year commemoration and counted on the assistance of about 60 people.
In the opening dialogue Marc Grau noted that companies which support work-life balance are socially responsible because they promote a healthier work and life style for everyone, with more satisfied employees and less cost to the companies. It also should be understood that reconciliation is not only a women's business and flexibility does not mean total availability or fewer working hours. "Reconciliation is a matter of trust," said the IESE researcher.
Both participating companies exposed their experiences in the adoption and application of conciliation measures. Softmachine highlights flexible hours, as Can Cet underlines the permissions for the completion of adoption and foster care formalities, or to bring relatives to the doctor. In addition to the managers, which explained the measures taken, the dialogue also had the staff vision through the participation of workers.
