Barcelona will once again be marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women this year. This year we want to draw attention to types of violence perpetrated over and over again in public spaces, and raise awareness of support services for women in the city of Barcelona.

Because in Barcelona, you are not alone. We’re all uniting against gender violence, as we want our streets to be spaces where we feel safe and free.

Looks, catcalls, vulgar remarks or gestures, threats, commenting on people’s appearance or invading their physical or personal space, groping on crowded public transport and assault in night-life spaces, such as outdoor concerts, are just some examples of sexual violations in public spaces.

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Barcelona is standing strong against these and all forms of gender violence.
