Women’s support and information points (PIADs) are free and confidential public services provided by Barcelona City Council which offer information, advice and guidance for women in various areas. The service offers individual and group assistance and includes specialised psychological care and legal advice with the aim of supporting women in their personal growth and in exercising their rights.

Meetings are by appointment only, and can be requested by calling freephone 900 922 357 (Mondays to Thursdays, from 9 am to 7 pm, and Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm). Users can also email their local PIAD. Following the appointment request, an in-person or phone (from a hidden number) meeting will be scheduled, depending on each person’s preferences.

PIAD services are for adult women and girls aged between 12 and 17 who live, study or work in Barcelona (no need to be on the register of residents).

PIADs offer:

  • Personalised support to address each woman’s individual needs.
  • Information about resources in the city in relation to employment, associations, culture, education etc.
  • Legal advice specialising in civil law, family law, labour law, gender violence, immigration law and more.
  • Psychological care: a supportive environment to address issues of concern, helping users to develop their own tools and abilities.

PIADs also work in the community, organising awareness-raising activities for the general public and taking part in community plans and sector-specific networks.

This service aims to offer a safe, trustworthy environment for all women who need guidance, support or assistance at any point in their lives.

Assistance in cases of discrimination or gender violence in any sphere: at work, socially, with a romantic partner, in public areas, etc. Free group sessions and workshops on various topics such as self-esteem, dance, laughter therapy, self-defence, etc. Groups on personal growth offer the opportunity for participants to deepen their self-knowledge and share experiences with other women, and long-term groups can help in the process of recovering from intimate partner gender violence.
