The “Canviem-ho” project has a series of activities and online resources for tackling these issues which are freely available to anyone interested in working on aspects such as masculinity(-ies), gender violence, affectionate sexual relationships, co-responsibility and positive, healthy parenting.
“Canviem-ho” Project
“Canviem-ho” (Let’s change it) is the gender violence prevention and awareness project run by Barcelona City Council's Men's Care Service (SAH). The purpose of this project is to get a personal and social commitment from “men” to help build a fairer and more equal society for everyone.
The project’s mission is to promote specific activities that encourage men to actively join forces with women and commit themselves to achieving an egalitarian society by fostering values, attitudes, forms of behaviour and relationships based on respect and care.
These activities are targeted specifically at young and adult men in Barcelona but training and advice are also offered to the staff of other services and entities that wish to enrich their interventions with men by incorporating a gender perspective.
Lines of work
The project actions are organised into lines of work and are common to all activities. They are, however, adapted to the profile of the individuals they are targeted at and the reality of the services.
Activities and training catalogue
The activities and training catalogue gives details of a series of activities (talks, workshops, courses and training sessions) that are carried out as part of the “Canviem-ho” project. These activities are free and open to everybody.
Network projects
Through “Canviem-ho” we take part in projects run by other city services to generate initiatives and joint programmes, as well as boost networking with the city’s institutional players so they can help us to boost work with young and adult males.
