Fourth day (2023)
Barcelona in transformation. Land, water, and railway roads
The Conference deals with the impact of transport infrastructure and water resources within the history of Barcelona. The results of the investigations carried out by the local study centres of the city's neighbourhoods are showcased about, first of all, the study of terrestrial communications, such as the traditional ones by dirt roads, as well as those which, from 1848 onwards, played a leading role in the railways, be it the railway, the tramway or the metro, among others. Secondly, research is presented around the waterways in Barcelona, such as the one linked to the emblematic Rec Comtal and others less known, such as the Canal de la Infanta. In this sense, municipal resources are also showcased in terms of archives at the service of research related to this subject.
