On June 9, we will once again commemorate the International Archives Day, an event celebrated around the world to coincide with the date of the creation of the International Council on Archives (ICA) in 1948 under the auspices of UNESCO. This year, however, from the Municipal Archives of Barcelona we have joined the initiative promoted by the ICA in two directions: the first is that all the activities we have scheduled will take place virtually, from a live visual conference to the retransmission of a video on conservation through our social networks, in addition to taking the opportunity to disseminate some of the digital resources that we already have and that we have recently made available to the public; the second is that this year all these activities can be enjoyed for a whole week, from 8 to 14 June, where we will take the opportunity to remember the importance of the archives and the professionals who work there under the motto "# UnArxiuÉs" (#AnArchiveIs). Also, the Barcelona Archive is one of the participants who have joined the dissemination campaign proposed by the Department of Culture to commemorate the International Archives Day consisting of the capture of videos by a regular user of the archive to tell us about their experience.

The program of the Municipal Archives of Barcelona is structured in 9 activities according to its typology: to begin, on Tuesday, June 9, at 6 pm, the visual conference "Photography. Memory between the landscape and the archives" by Ricard Martínez, which will take us into a practice that consists of photographing, from the same place, a previously recorded scene. We will also launch two virtual exhibitions linked to exhibition projects that took place last year in commemoration of the "40 years of democratic councils", of which we have made their digital embodiment from the material which was exhibited both in different district archives and in the Contemporary Municipal Archives of Barcelona. Also, through our social networks, during the International Archives Week we will broadcast an introductory video on the conservation-restoration of archival documents where the curator Adela Martínez will give us some initiatory brushstrokes on the tasks carried out in the workshop of an archive and how important the preventive conservation is on the preserved documentation.

Another of the planned activities is the launch of a new version of the online Catalog of the Municipal Archives of Barcelona, ​​a digital tool in operation since 2015 which offers the user the possibility to search, consult and view the documents preserved in the Archive. On this occasion, a new design has been carried out and improvements have been incorporated to make it even easier to consult these documents. For its part, the Historical Archives of the City of Barcelona, ​​during the International Archives Week, will hold, through its website, a contest called "What do we know about the Archive?" to test the knowledge that citizens have about their records, in addition to promoting other digital resources such as their Digital Newspaper Library on historical press or the section on the "Document of the Month" related to the documentation they keep. Finally, from the Contemporary Municipal Archives of Barcelona will also give full dissemination to the complete list of those affected in relation to the Francoist purge of municipal officials in Barcelona.
