On the occasion of International Women’s Day, various municipal sports centres in Barcelona are organising a week of health and well-being activities through sport. This special programme includes free sessions directed by professionals in areas such as nutrition, medical prevention, physical training and personal defence.
The centres offering activities include the CEM Bac de Roda, the CEM Aiguajoc, the CEM Turó de la Peira, the Municipal Sailing Centre, Eurofitness, the CEM Can Felipa, the CEM Besòs, the CEM Horta and the CEM Joan Miró. Members of the public will be able to find information on the activities being organised and the registration requirements on the official profiles for each centre.
Sport as a tool for empowerment and social transformation
The initiative forms part of Barcelona’s commitment to gender equality and fostering sport as a means of social cohesion, empowerment and transformation.
Barcelona City Council continues to work to guarantee women’s visibility and participation in sport, promoting programmes that ensure the practice of sport in equal conditions and recognise the fundamental role of women in all sporting disciplines.
