What is the Citizen Council for Sustainability? 

The Citizen Council for Sustainability is a consultative and participation city body acting in sustainability-related areas. It is the promoter of the Citizen Commitment to Sustainability 2012-2022, and its road map for moving towards a more sustainable city.

Its functions, its organization and its internal operations are regulated through a Rules of Procedure approved by the main committee of the City Council of Barcelona on October 3, 2014. After the entry into force of this regulation, the hitherto Municipal Council for Environment and Sustainability became the Citizen Council for Sustainability.

With the new regulation, the Council seeks to represent the different groups and sectors involved in achieving the objectives of the Citizen Commitment for Sustainability and, at the same time, it promotes new strategies for engagement, co-responsibility and participation of citizens' organizations.
