Come along to the Cuidem Barcelona public days
11/02/2022 - 14:09 h
The Cuidem Barcelona campaign offers a special event full of music, workshops, murals and activities for people to discover the new fleet of cleaning and waste collection vehicles.
Passeig de Lluís Companys hosts the Cuidem Barcelona public days on 19 and 20 February, an event based around the campaign of the same name and enabling visitors to learn more about the task of cleaning and looking after the city, at the same raising public awareness relating to sustainability in Barcelona.
The event highlights the work done by services to maintain public spaces such as streets, squares and beaches. The idea is also to emphasise the importance of joint responsibility in the maintenance of the city: this can only be guaranteed if everybody does their own little bit.
The event offers a route from Arc de Triomf to the end of Passeig de Lluís Companys, next to the Parc de la Ciutadella, with all sorts of workshops and activities based around three themes: the waste collection service, complementary collections, and civic behaviour and co-responsibility in maintaining public space.
The esplanade will be divided into four different areas, each with their corresponding sub-areas, activities and workshops.
The event features a display area with vehicles, where members of the public can see the new improved fleet of cleaning services.
Visitors will be able to discover the lorries, 4×4 vehicles and barrows which will be regularly doing the rounds in the city, as well as other resources. Children who come along to this festive event can also hop on board some of the vehicles on display.
At the selective waste collection area you will find a series of workshops linked to each of the waste categories: reusing food, figures made from recycled cardboard and origami, glass-based musical instruments and more.
Another themed area will be the complementary collection zone, with activities on recycling and artistic and collaborative projects always based on recycled materials.
The route winds up at the joint responsibility and civic behaviour area, where we once again find artistic projects based around the environment, as well as gymkhanas for young children and theatre performances.
You can also help create a collective mural coordinated by Javirroyo: the silhouette of a woman illustrating a city from head (Collserola) to toe (the sea). White pens will be available so everybody can colour the black areas on the mural.
In parallel to all this, the agora offers a space for all learning at the event to converge. Joint responsibility, awareness, discovery and fun all make up the Cuidem Barcelona public days.
