Renovating the Parc del Laberint in the Horta neighbourhood
02/03/2023 - 15:23 h
Work gets under way in May, with repairs to walls and paths and improvements to vegetation, drainage and furniture. Trees, the labyrinth and the watering systems will be renewed at the end of the year. In parallel, renovation work is being carried out on the Palau del Marquès d’Alfarràs, located inside the park.
The Parc del Laberint is made up of gardens from various periods, between them covering an area of 54 hectares.
The perimeter fence separating the gardens and the woods at the park has been completely renovated ahead of the work in the spring, to prevent wild boar from getting in.
The park gets 250,000 visitors every year.
Protecting heritage
The conservation of the Palau del Marquès d’Alfarras, located inside the park, is already in progress. Following the process to halt the degradation of the building and regain its original spaces, work will now focus on guaranteeing its stability and preserving the most notable features before adding basic facilities.
The right wing of the palace, now renovated, has been the home of the El Laberint Training Centre since 1993, which offers courses in gardening, agriculture and biodiversity.
