Another step closer to the CAP Raval moving to the Capella de la Misericòrdia

Friday’s full council meeting should conclude the process to classify the building, currently unused, for medical and healthcare uses. The process has been accelerated to bring forward the work by up to a year. The project responds to a long-standing demand by local people.
Once the new urban plan is approved, use of the Capella de la Misericordia will be granted to the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), which will be responsible for the construction of the new primary healthcare centre.
Besides ascribing new uses to the building, the plan improves the protection of its architectural heritage, listing the Capella de la Misericòrdia as a C-grade protected building and adjusting the height of the floors to be built so that the structure fits in better with the surrounding buildings.
More health
The boost to primary healthcare will continue with the construction and enlargement of another eleven centres in the city, as agreed with the Government of Catalonia in the last Joint Commission. The session also established the commitment to working on the construction or enlargement of five more CAPs in the future.
