The Advisory Council of the Ciutat Vella Agreement has been established

30/10/2024 - 14:02 h

These 22 members, each with a special connection to the district, will contribute to drafting a roadmap for its complete transformation over the next ten years.

This new consultative body will ensure the effective implementation of the Ciutat Vella Agreement, supporting and collaborating on the definition of its strategies, actions and projects. The council includes members from organisations, institutions and representatives from the neighbourhood movement. It is chaired by Beatriu Carbonell, with former city councillor Maravillas Rojo serving as vice-chair.

Its objectives are as follows:

  1. To become a space for reflection, guidance, monitoring and evaluation of the process of drafting and implementing the Ciutat Vella Agreement.
  2. To advise the Barcelona City Council on the development and outcomes of this process.
  3. To encourage and foster collaboration among the various entities, institutions, administrations and associations within the district.
  4. To monitor and analyse the available data.
  5. To support the promotion of the proposal and the outcomes of the citizen-led process.

The Ciutat Vella Agreement is the result of a broad social and political agreement and will outline the actions needed for a comprehensive transformation of the Ciutat Vella district over the next decade. Over 180 representatives from neighbourhood, association, sport, commercial and cultural groups, along with other political, economic and social stakeholders from Ciutat Vella and across the city, are taking part.

With a budget of €225 million allocated for investments during the current term, the actions covered by the agreement will focus on benefiting five key target groups prioritised in the district: residents, workers, families, young people, and the elderly.
