A new aid convoy set off for flood-hit areas in Valencia on Monday, 4 November, to take over from the Barcelona firefighters working there. In all, 33 firefighters will make the trip by coach, along with four more vehicles, a water tanker, a pumping lorry to remove water and two vans, plus other materials to help with the recovery efforts.

The staff will take over from the 32 Barcelona firefighters working in the area affected by the storm since Saturday with ten support vehicles to remove large obstacles, pump out water and more.

As for the City Police, a new convoy with 26 officers set off for Valencia at midday today to take over from the first group already sent. The officers set off with six cars and a van from the Local Emergency Reinforcement Unit (UREP).

The municipal operation is also made up of 12 social support professionals from the Barcelona Social Emergency and Urgent Care Centre (CUESB). These are psychologists, social workers and logistical intervention specialists, offering initial psychological support for individuals and group sessions for communities.

The municipal operation was bolstered yesterday with the addition of four dustcarts, three vehicles to move heavy obstacles and an excavator, with a total of 16 specialists from the municipal cleaning service and from Parks and Gardens.
