17/04/2024 - 15:10 h
The city will be celebrating Sant Jordi on 23 April with a large area in the heart of L’Eixample and in Ciutat Vella closed to traffic and reserved for local people, with stalls selling books and roses. The area will be between Av. Diagonal and Gran Via, C/ Balmes and C/ Pau Claris, also extending along La Rambla.
Wheeled transport, including bicycles and personal mobility vehicles, will not be allowed to circulate in the following streets from 10 pm on 22 April to 4 am on 24 April: Pg. de Gràcia, as far as Av. Diagonal; Av. Diagonal, from C/ Balmes to Pg. de Gràcia (side nearest the sea); Rbla. Catalunya, from Gran Via CC to Av. Diagonal; C/ Casp, from Pg. de Gràcia as far as C/ Pau Claris; C/ Diputació from Pg. de Gràcia to C/ Balmes; C/ Consell de Cent, from C/ Balmes to C/ Pau Claris; C/ Mallorca, from C/ Pau Claris to C/ Balmes; C/ Provença, from C/ Pau Claris to C/ Balmes; C/ Rosselló, from C/ Balmes to Pg. de Gràcia; C/ Còrsega, from Av. Diagonal to Rbla. Catalunya and Pl. Catalunya.
Moreover, traffic will also be restricted in La Rambla and in Pl. Catalunya it will be reduced to one lane of circulation on the Llobregat side. Other disruptions may affect the streets that reach the perimeters of the literary block and La Rambla, depending on the volume of people and occupancy of road surfaces.
Access will be possible to entrances and exits at the public car parks affected by the restrictions, with specific routes in place.
Besides L’Eixample and Ciutat Vella, all districts will have spaces set aside for the sale of books and roses, as well as various activities.
Disruptions to public transport
Various bus services will be affected throughout the day, with the following routes limited or diverted: D50, H8, H10, V15, V17, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 33, 34, 52 and 54 and the red and blue Bus Turístic services. For more information check the TMB website. You can plan your journeys with the “Getting there” tool.
Given the restrictions, people are recommended to use public transport to get to the literary block, as well as the spaces set aside for the sale of books and roses around the rest of the city.
