What will AMBici bikes be like?
Users will have 2,600 bikes available to them. The service will use the e-SMARTbike 2.0 model, a 100% electric latest-generation bike with a central motor in its lowest section. The bikes will feature a screen showing the battery level, with users able to switch electric assistance on or off. The motor will switch off at 25 km/h, as well as when riders brake.
The mobile app for the service will allow users to activate or deactivate the electric motor when they reserve a bike, pause or anchor it at a parking station. Bikes will also have a geolocating service.
How many anchoring stations will there be?
The service will have 236 modular parking stations, half of them with electric recharging points and located next to other public transport stations.
How much will the AMBici subscription cost?
The annual cost of the service in 2023 will be 25 euros. This allows users to circulate on bikes for 30 minutes free of charge. After the first half an hour the cost will be 50 cents per 30 minutes.
As from 2024, the subscription will rise to 40 euros a year and cost 15 cents for the first half an hour and 50 cents per an half hour thereafter.
Will AMBici be compatible with the Bicing service?
An integrated metropolitan subscription will be created for the two services, costing between 53 and 65 euros a year.
Connecting or transfer stations will be installed to integrate the two services around the Barcelona city limits, with the municipalities of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat. Sant Adrià de Besòs and Santa Coloma de Gramanet. Initially there will be seven of these at:
