As of 1 July, ticket sales for the Park Güell will be online only

The decision is part of the strategy to promote a more sustainable and better planned tourism model, guaranteeing ease of access and avoiding unnecessary journeys, and responds to complaints from local residents, as in this way the presence of visitors without a ticket in the area around the park is avoided.

From 1 July 2024 onwards, all tickets for the Park will be sold exclusively online. The aim here is primarily to encourage scheduled visits spread throughout the day, to minimise disappointment due to a lack of available tickets. A visible information campaign has been launched to publicise this initiative, with signage at strategic points around Barcelona, such as on the public transport network, at the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport, and at various hotels in the city.

Park Güell has adopted various measures to ensure harmonious use by local residents and tourists. Since 2020, maximum annual capacity has been reduced to 4.5 million visitors, with access managed by time slot to avoid overcrowding.

In recent years, campaigns have been launched to promote advance online ticket sales, which now account for more than 85% of all tickets issued. The park also provides information on ticket availability in real time through official channels and collaborations with organisations such as TMB Turisme de Barcelona and the Barcelona Hotel Guild.

Moreover, exclusive online sales will allow the current Park Güell ticket offices to be repurposed as information, group management and assistance points.

Public use of Park Güell as a space for leisure, sport and relaxation is a priority. Local residents have exclusive access and specific time slots. Over 500,000 people used their ‘carnet de veïnatge’ in 2023, and 164,000 people from Barcelona have taken part in the Gaudir Més programme.

This is an important step towards guaranteeing sustainable tourism that respects the environment and improves the Park Güell experience for both locals and tourists alike.
