New responsible pet ownership campaign
A week-long campaign is being conducted relating to pet ownership and focusing on behaviour that may cause inconvenience to others or the degradation of public space.
The general goals of the campaign are:
- To raise public awareness on the need for respectful behaviour in the ownership of pets, particularly dogs.
- To make owners aware of the importance of compliance with the regulations in force, particularly relating to potentially dangerous dogs.
- To raise awareness about the need to clear up excrement left by pets.
- To check animals wear systems to subject them, such as collars, leads and muzzles.
- To verify the census and identification of pets, particularly dogs.
- To avoid the presence of pets in children’s parks or gardens used by infants.
Ultimately, and in keeping with the Pla Endreça, the intention is to foster social and respectful behaviour in common areas and guarantee the excellence of public space.
In order to address anti-social behaviour that may affect coexistence and regulate engagement between people and pets in public spaces, the City Police base their action on the by-law on the protection, ownership and sale of animals.
