Open days resume at La Model

29/08/2024 - 13:30 h

La Model opens up to the city again from Sunday, 1 September. This will be the first open day of the new season at this imposing building and former prison in the Esquerra de l’Eixample neighbourhood, after the usual break in activity in August. Open days with no guide are free, and there’s no need to book in advance.

La Model is starting to hold open days again from Sunday, 1 September. The site will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except for public holidays. No advance booking or registration is required. All you need to do is turn up at La Model, at C/ Entença, 155, at the following times (there may be a short queue, depending on the volume of visitors):

  • Fridays: from 4 to 6 pm
  • Saturdays: from 10 am to 2 pm and 4 to 6 pm
  • Sundays: from 10 am to 2 pm

Bear in mind that La Model will not be opening on 12 October, 1 November or 6 and 8 December, as these are public holidays in Barcelona.

Guided visits are also available

Open days at La Model on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays allow you to visit the main spaces within the former prison without a guide. However, if you’d prefer to tour the building with a guide to explain the history of La Model, free guided tours are available but need to booked in advance on the La Model website: www.lamodel.barcelona. These tours are also given on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, in Catalan and Spanish, although tours are currently fully booked until November.. New places for December will be made available shortly.

Barcelona City Council also offers several guided tours specially designed for school children. Schools can also check the details and make bookings via the La Model website.

Please remember that smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in La Model. Pets are not allowed in (with the exception of assistance dogs).
