Sign up for Park(ing) Day Barcelona 2021

28/04/2021 - 12:50 h

The annual event has been held in Barcelona since 2014 and sees public car parking spaces temporarily transformed into parks, gardens and other types of public spaces. This year’s event is based around ecofeminism. In other words, proposals relating to urban planning, architecture or the environment from a gender perspective.

Park(ing) Day Barcelona is an annual event coordinated by Espai Ambiental Cooperativa and ISGLOBAL with the support of Barcelona City Council. The event first took place in the city in 2014 and will be held on l17 September this year.

It’s a day for performances, for education and for standing up for a cause, where various entities, groups and members of the public temporarily transform public parking spaces into parks, gardens and other options for regaining public space and sticking up for a city model which focuses on people and the environment.

The 2021 edition adopts ecofeminism as its theme

The initiative seeks to highlight the urgent need to rethink urban spaces and move towards lifestyles and settings which are more respectful towards our surroundings and future generations, with more public green spaces, play areas and a reduction in air pollution.

The 2021 edition adopts ecofeminism as its theme. As a result, all the activities planned for the week are based around urban planning and health from a gender perspective.

Individuals or organisations interested in taking part have until 8 June to sign up with a project or activity for their own ‘park’ using this form.

This year, owing to the situation generated by Covid-19, participants are required to ensure their activity complies with PROCICAT regulations. To this end, organisations will have to design their activities and spaces according to measures on safety, hygiene and physical distancing.

Three information sessions will be offered for people to clear up any doubts on this year’s Park(ing) Day Barcelona, The first is aimed at all new participants and is being held on Wednesday 13 May, at 6 pm. Anybody wishing to attend should fill in the form and the organisers will send them a link to connect to the virtual meeting.
