The Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk is put on its alert stage

The Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk has been put on its alert stage in response to the Catalan government’s activation of its Alpha Plan Level 3 in Barcelonès. That means extra resources are being allocated to Parc de Collserola and the seven Barcelona Fire Stations will be kept on alert for high possibilities of fires breaking out in the forest cover.
Maximum precaution and collaboration is being requested from city residents. There has been a ban in place since 15 March on carrying forest work or any action that may cause sparks within 500 metres of the forest cover. The ban includes waste-burning and barbecues.
Since the start of the Barcelona Fire Fighters forest campaign, launched this June and active until mid-September, the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS) has been adapting and strengthening its measures for tackling months of greater heat and for quickly and effectively responding to any forest fires that may arise.
The teams have been deployed throughout close to 1,800 hectares of the Parc de Collserola area belonging to the city of Barcelona and distributed among the Les Corts, Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, Horta-Guinardó and Nou Barris districts.
