Twenty-three premises out of thirty back in municipal hands at the Port Olímpic
23/12/2020 - 13:31 h
The process to regain control of the various premises at the Port Olímpic and promote science and sports activities there which are linked to the sea continues. Five were recovered today through legal means, and the keys to eight others were handed over voluntarily in recent days. In all, 23 of the 30 premises at the port are now back in municipal hands.
The process to recover control of the premises at the Moll de Mestral wharf began a fortnight ago and all the premises are soon expected to be available to the City Council, which will promote their use by companies linked to nautical sports and the sea.
The promotion of the blue economy will replace the nightlife which dominated in the area and caused inconvenience to local people. The port was also disconnected from community life.
New social and family meeting point
The recovery of the premises is another step in the transformation of the area, which also entails an urban revamp with projects to create spaces for people to stroll and relax in, the renovation and extension of the Municipal Sailing Centre and improved connections with rest of the city.
Some measures for opening up the Port Olímpic for use by citizens are already under way.
