Barcelona City Council, through the Barcelona Municipal Immigration Council (CMIB), is pleased to announce the CMIB Award with a view to publicly recognising the work of entities, projects or people that contribute to the effective inclusion of people from different cultural backgrounds and contexts in all areas of Barcelona's civic life.

This award aims to highlight initiatives that contribute to the construction of a fairer, more cohesive and intercultural city, via actions that promote equal rights, coexistence and the active participation of the cultural diversity present in Barcelona.

The nominations process for the 2025 CMIB Award is dedicated to the theme "Health and emotional well-being in an intercultural context".

This topic responds to the need to give visibility to and address the multiple effects that migration can have on the emotional and physical health of people of various origins, as well as the importance of health projects from a communal perspective to prevent and treat these effects.

Projects can be submitted to the CMIB Award by:

  • Individuals registered in the city of Barcelona at the time of submitting the application.
  • Groups, associations and other non-profit organisations whose headquarters are located in Barcelona.
  • Entities or groups with a branch in Barcelona, provided that they carry out activities in the city.
  • Individuals, groups or entities that, despite not having headquarters or a branch in the city, can demonstrate that their projects have a direct impact on Barcelona’s residents.

Special mention may also be granted with a view to publicly recognising a CMIB member entity that, over the preceding year, has stood out for one of the following reasons:

a) Its active participation in the Council’s activities and working groups.

b) Performance of actions or activities in collaboration with other Council entities.

c) Its contribution to promoting a strong working climate and understanding between member entities.

Persons covered by Article 14 of Law 39/2015 of 1 October 2015 on the common administrative procedure for public administrations, in other words, entities, associations and groups are required to fill in and submit the application through the City Council's e-office in accordance with the instructions set forth in this procedures portal.

When a proposal is submitted in person, by individuals, at the registry of the citizen service offices (OACs), an appointment must be requested in advance at http://ajuntament.barcelona.cat/cita, by calling 010 or via mobile (Barcelona a la Butxaca app).

The application period will begin on the day following the date of publication of the call for nominations in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona and will end once a period of 15 working days have elapsed.
