One area of action included in the Barcelona City of Literature programme is support for the book sector and literary creation, and therefore authors. This selection process is an opportunity to identify and support literary projects in the speciality of playwriting, written by authors linked to the city of Barcelona. In this regard, the Carme Montoriol theatre writing awards consist of a maximum of four writing projects related to playwriting.

Beneficiaries may include authors of dramaturgy works over the age of 18, of any nationality, who have had at least one of their works performed on the professional circuit within the last five years. Entrants are required to prove this with images of theatre programmes or press dossiers.

With the exception of natural persons, all others are obliged to submit the application form, together with the rest of the documentation required, via the Barcelona City of Literature website. In the exceptional case of submitting an application in person, without prejudice to Article 16 of Act 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of the Public Administrations, these documents may be submitted at any district general registry offices, municipal manager’s offices, or municipal institutes.

Entry period: 24 January to 13 February 2023 (inclusive).
