On 25 November, Barcelona City Council commemorates International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, declared by the UN in 1999. 

With the aim of raising awareness and fostering shared responsibility with the public, women’s groups and organisations, joint associations addressing different issues, geographic areas and other city activity sectors, Barcelona City Council is launching the twentieth 25 November Prize, this year with the theme ‘Barcelona Against Online Gender Violence’, to promote social initiatives aimed at combating gender violence in the city.

The aim of the call is therefore to offer financial resources and institutional support to facilitate the implementation of the winning project. The award is not intended to replace the responsibility and initiative of the groups or the people behind the efforts, as that would be contrary to its spirit.

Project submissions for this year’s prize, with the theme of ‘Barcelona Against Online Gender Violence’, may have the following goals:

1. Carrying out applied research to prevent gender violence associated with online environments, in accordance with the objectives of the prize (see Section 1).
2. Developing strategies and initiatives in the various environments where this year’s theme is relevant, aimed at city residents, in accordance with the objectives of the prize (Section 1).
3. Implementing resources and preventative initiatives that address the dual theme of ‘gender violence – online violence’, in accordance with the objectives of the award (Section 1).
4. Creating resources and tools to prevent and combat sexual violence, in accordance with the objectives of the prize (Section 1).

In terms of geographic scope, the projects:

• must be carried out in the city of Barcelona or
• must be applicable, in practical terms, at the district or city level.

Projects may be submitted by non-profit organisations, groups and associations based in the city of Barcelona, as well as by individuals over the age of 18.

In accordance with the rights and obligations of interacting with public administrations, applications may be submitted either in person or online.

The submission period will begin the day after the announcement of the call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona and will end on 6 October 2025 at 11:59 pm.
