Barcelona City Council

The purpose of this call is to regulate the Barcelona Institute of Culture's awarding of subsidies for funding projects aimed at “renovating, modernising and providing technical equipment for private spaces for cultural creation, experimentation and dissemination, bookshops and cinemas that carry out their activities in Barcelona”.

Legally constituted legal persons, the managers of the venues benefiting from the subsidies, may apply for these subsidies, which have the corresponding authorisation (activity licence or opening notice), where applicable, may apply for these subsidies. Each applicant may present only one subsidy application for each venue that they own or manage.

• Category A. Independent, privately owned, artistic and cultural creation, experimentation and exhibition spaces.
• Category B. Live culture spaces, small format, local spaces with a social-coordination role, with a capacity for under 150 individuals, which carry out a regular cultural programme. 
• Category C. Bookshops. 
• Category D. Cinemas with seven or fewer projection halls.

Circumstances excluded from this subsidy campaign:

- In regard to construction work and measures to comply with regulations and other improvement work, applications from legally constituted legal persons that manage municipally owned venues, publicly owned cultural institutions and cultural facilities run by public consortia shall be excluded from this call.

- Legal persons entitled to receive subsidies from the Consortium for the Plan for the Renovation and Equipping of Barcelona Theatres.

In accordance with Article 14 of Act 39/2015, of 1 October, on common administrative procedure of public administrations, the application must be completed and submitted via the Virtual Procedures Office at Barcelona City Council’s e-headquarters.

The application period is from 27 June to 3 pm on 18 July 2023.
