The City Police take part in the 2nd Meeting against Gender Violence in Sarajevo

The City Police meet for the second consecutive year with the Minister for the Interior for Sarajevo Canton, Admis Katica, and the Minister for Social Protection in Sarajevo Canton, Enda Pavic, to improve the prevention of gender violence.

This year’s meeting was held in Sarajevo Canton as part of the joint cooperation programme on preventing gender violence and supporting victims.

Participating on behalf of the City Police were the deputy chief of the Investigation Unit, Gemma Alfonso Martín, and corporal Ivan Sánchez, from the Office for Prevention Education (OEP), together with representatives from the Municipal Institute of Social Services and International Cooperation.

Two working sessions were held with the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Social Services, along with their technical teams, with the City Police presenting the services of the OEP, the T’acompanyem programme, the Victim Support Service (SAV) and the Municipal Unit against Human Trafficking (UTEH). There was also a session on the protocol proposed to counter aggressions against social services professionals who intervene in cases of gender and domestic violence.

The team from Barcelona City Council visited the new premises of the Canton Police during the meeting.

The programme was launched in 2023 and is aimed at improving the capacity to prevent gender violence and provide support for women who suffer violence in Sarajevo Canton. The working meetings with teams from the City Police and the Municipal Institute for Social Services form part of the programme.
