Safety and prevention. The project “T’acompanyem” which helps the City Police identify cases of gender violence, was presented in Brussels.

The Manager for the Area of Safety, Prevention and Coexistence at Barcelona City Council, Maite Casado, and the Director of Municipal Safety and Prevention Services, Àngels Vila, spoke at the European Forum for Urban Safety and Prevention (FEPSU) in Brussels on Thursday, 21 March. Elsewhere, the City Police will be taking part in some exercises in Vienna with the Counter Terrorism Preparedness Network (CTPN), ending on Thursday, 28 March.

Casado was the moderator for the round table “Sexual and Sexist Violence”, outlining the project “T’acompanyem”, which helps the City Police detect cases of gender violence. One of the tools for the project is a guide to warning signs, a pioneering resource for security corps that facilitates the observation of signs of possible cases of mistreatment where there are not enough elements to bring a criminal case.

The City Police also has victim support services at all its police stations. The corps actually started an exercise during this week to present this service to consulates in Barcelona. You can find all the free and confidential services to prevent, address and eradicate cases of sexist violence on the website for Women and Feminism.

At the same time, and also as part of the FEPSU, Àngels Vila spoke in the round table “Professions linked to the prevention of delinquency”, along with other academics and professionals from this sphere.

In Vienna, as part of the CTPN, the inspector Xavier Garcia will be taking part on Thursday in an exercise simulating a terrorist cyberattack on critical infrastructures, to improve cooperation with the cities and stakeholders represented. The exercise is being jointly organised with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism. The City Police took part in a similar exercise in London on 15 March, also as part of the international collaboration with this network.
