The OMIC continues to provide its services to the public electronically and through the 010 phone service. Claims and enquiries will continue to be preferably dealt with online. For those inquiries or complaints that require face-to-face attention, you must make an appointment in advance on the municipal procedures portal ajuntament.barcelona.cat/cita/omic, by calling 010, or at the Municipal Procedures Kiosk.
Health and well-being
As regards health and well-being issues, enquiries relating to the following are particularly worth highlighting:
Dental clinics
As with other services, you are entitled to a quote and an invoice at the end of the treatment.
You must sign a consent form before each treatment. It is important that you read it carefully and are aware both of the nature of the treatment and of its possible consequences.
If the treatment is financed by linked consumer credit; i.e. credit provided by the dental clinic itself, the consumer has 14 days to exercise the right of withdrawal. In addition, failure by the dental clinic to provide the treatment will result in the cancellation of the finance.
Tanning salons
Establishments are required to have information signs with prices (including taxes). The price of sessions must be stated in minutes.
You must sign a document stating that you have read all the instructions. This must be kept by the establishment for five years.
Establishments must monitor and record in a personalised file the tanning sessions and doses received by each person.
They must keep a sunbed maintenance book and have the devices periodically inspected on an annual basis. This is carried out by the Inspection and Control Entities licensed by the Generalitat de Catalunya (ECA and ICICT).
The devices must have the CE mark showing that they comply with European product safety regulations.
Sunglasses
The Catalan Consumer Agency recommends that you ensure they:
Have the CE mark as a guarantee of quality.
Include a leaflet or label with details of the manufacturer or EU distributor, their functional characteristics, the degree of protection they afford, a risk warning, and the safety and maintenance rules.
If the sunglasses are for children, take particular care, as children are often unaware that the discomfort they are feeling is related to wearing sunglasses.
Remember that, if you are not satisfied with the product or treatment, you must ask the company for the official claim form or contact it by any other method that provides a record of the claim. If you have not received an answer within 30 days, or if the answer is unsatisfactory, contact the OMIC to make your claim.
